How do I apply to the program?
1. Download the application form MB Operator Certification Application, complete the form, ensuring ALL fields within your application have been completed. Please ensure all signature and dates for both the applicant and the supervisor have been completed.
**Incomplete applications will not be approved until all the information has been completed and re-submitted.
2. Submit your application to the SWANA office via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax to 866-698-8203

How much are fees?
First-time applicant for the Manitoba Landfill Certification: $200 +gst (Cdn)
First-time applicant for the Manager of Landfill Operations Certification: $375 +gst (Cdn)
What if it’s my first time applying?
For first time applicants a notice will be sent to the e-mail address on your application at least 10 days prior to the examination date. The e-mail will indicate whether you have been approved by the Northern Lights Chapter’s Manitoba Certification Review Committee to write the exam.
If accepted, the e-mail will provide information on the date, time, location, and other details regarding the exam. If rejected, the reason for rejection will be provided and a partial refund of the application fee will be issued.
What are the requirements to become certified as a landfill operator?
An applicant for a basic certificate must:
a) be at least 18 years of age, and
b) be currently employed at a Manitoba Landfill
Do I need to take the training course before writing the exam?
No. All qualifying applicants can challenge the exam if they wish. However, attending the course prior to writing the exam is strongly recommended. Please note: there is a separate application form and fee to attend the training course, and another separate application form and fee to apply to write the certification exam.
How long will it take to receive exam results?
Exam results will generally be mailed to you within 4-6 weeks of writing the exam
When will I be notified whether I am approved to write the examination?
A email will be sent to the address on your application at least 10 days prior to the examination date.
When and where will the next exam sitting take place?
All dates and information on registering will be posted on our website as they become available.
How do I pay?
Payment can be made online via our online registration system, by providing your payment info on the application or by mailing us your cheque. Please mail payments to PO Box 3317, Sherwood Park, AB – T8H 2T2. All payments must be received prior to you writing the exam.
