UPDATE:
SWANA Northern Lights Chapter (NLC) has deferred the Canadian Symposium to November 23 – 26th, 2020!
We are working to update the Symposium agenda but are excited that our keynotes speakers, plenary and much of our program will remain the same. We are looking at an opportunity to discuss Pandemic Planning and what our world (and industry) will look like after COVID-19.
The Fairmont Banff Springs hotel has cancelled all April reservations made through the SWANA booking code. We have secured the SWANA conference rate of $209 plus $14 resort fee and taxes and are very excited to be in Banff in November when it will be decked for Christmas! We will publish the new room booking code as soon as it is available.
If you plan to attend the Symposium in November, please let us know at info@swananorthernlights.org and we will simply transfer your registration. If you wish to cancel, please email info@swananorthernlights.org and we will provide a full refund.
Please remember to cancel or change your flights – as our conference was not able to go ahead due to the pandemic we hope you will not have any issues with refunds or changes.
We hope to have the conference page of our website updated in the next week and will continue to provide additional information as it arises. Please check our website for news on our training program as we make adjustments to reflect the recommendations of health authorities and in the best interest of our members and industry.

Reach for the Summit with the 2020 SWANA Canadian Symposium at the Fairmont Banff Springs. This opportunity only comes around every 10 years when the SWANA Northern Lights Chapter hosts the Symposium in the majestic Canadian Rockies.
Over 400 delegates, exhibitors, and speakers from across North America will traverse our “landmark” Safety, Landfill, and Climate Change, Recycling and Technology sessions. We are also adding in workshops and sessions in disaster preparedness, communications and alternatives technologies. The Symposium is paired with a tradeshow allowing clients and vendors to reconnect in a beautiful setting and see what tools are available on your exhibition.
This conference will not be short on dynamic speakers who will bring experiences and updates from their sector and industry.

The Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel & Conference Centre is the Basecamp for the SWANA Northern Lights Chapter and SWANA Canadian Symposium. Come early or stay late to enjoy the attractions that Banff and the Rocky Mountains have to offer. In between your getaway, take in the training, conference sessions, tours and many networking events the symposium has to offer. Our week together is about reaching for the summit.

Transportation to Banff
We encourage all delegates to consider carpooling or taking advantage of shared transportation opportunities to travel to Banff. If you are flying into the Calgary International Airport (YYC) a paid shuttle service is available that will take you from the airport to the Fairmont Banff Springs. Please book ahead.
